Set a Pace
Set a Pace and Take Action. Martin Luther King Jr, said, Tomorrow is today. We are confronted with the fierce urgency of now. In this unfolding conundrum of life and history, there “is” such a thing as being too late. This is no time for apathy or complacency. This is a time for vigorous and positive action. So, don’t wait too long before you launch your plans to make a difference. When people hear about your new programs, and then don’t see any activity related to them for an extended time, they may disengage and grow cynical. Today’s leaders must balance the needs of the organization with the realities of human nature and the sociology of the organization’s culture to set a pace for change. But do not err on the side of moving too slow and in the process, allow essential and necessary transformations to end incomplete, or worse, in failure.
